The Board of Education of Iron County School District heard various reports on district financial matters during its work meeting Tuesday.

First, Business Administrator Todd Hess reviewed the benefits and compensation proposal. With current revenues and increased costs, the district faces a difficult choice, he said. Historically, the district has paid the health insurance premiums for its employees and their families. The district – with the help of its insurance broker – was able to negotiate the premium increase down to just 8 percent, but that is still a significant increase that takes away from other potential salary increases.
